11 days Real Morocco Tour

The 10 Day Real Morocco Tour covers the Imperial Cities of Morocco, Rabat, Meknes, Fes and Marrakech; Chefchaouen, Sahara desert, Canyons, Kasbahs, Mountains, Valleys…


Day1:   Casablanca – Rabat

Arrive at Casablanca Airport and transfer to the administrative capital of Morocco, Rabat. Depending on your arrival time, if it’s in the morning, then we will include a tour to the most interesting attractions; otherwise, we will skip it to the next day.

Day2:     Rabat – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we will spend the first half day exploring Rabat by starting with the Oudaya Kasbah that was built in 12th Century by the Almohad Sultan Yacob El Mansour to be subject to expansion and reiforcement by the Alaouite Sultan Moulay Ismail. Visit Hassan Tower, which was a big project to raise the largest Mosque in the Islamic World in the 12th century but El Mansour died three years after the project started. Mohamed V Mausoleum is adjacent to Hassan Tower with its white marble structure and green tiles at the roof, we will also include a drive to the Royal Palace before taking the highway north to Chefchaouen.

Day3:      Half day walking Tour of Chefchaouen

In the morning, you will spend the first half day exploring Chefchaouen with an expert local tour guide. Chefchaouen has been selected as one of the cleanest and most beautiful towns in the world. Chefchaouen means “Horns” in Berber language and the name is derived from the two mountains in which the town is nestled. The town is painted in washed blue and white colous and it’s a perfect location for some nicest shots ever. spend the morning walking through its narrow alleyways that are shrouded in mystery and present a real Moroccan style of life with its small shops selling small items for souvenirs. In the afternoon, you may spend your time at one of the cafes at the Square or conduct another walk as it gets busier.

Day4:       Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, we will drive south crossing the Rif Mountains from Chefchaouen to the Roman Ruins of Volubilis. The tour of the Roman Ruins includes a walk through the crumbling Roman sites before heading further south to the Imperial City of Meknes. Meknes was built by Moulay Ismail who turned it into a famous city worldwide, we will stop by the gate of Mansour that is one of the biggest gates in Africa, then drive through the high walls of the Royal Palace before reaching the Granaries area and then a walk through the olive market of Meknes as it’s, most of the time, called the capital of olives. In the late afternoon, we will resume our journey to Fes.

Day5:    Full day exploring Fes

In the morning, you will spend the day exploring the oldest Imperial City of Morocco – Fes – with an expert local tour guide who will bring the rich historical background behind the foundation of Fes from the 9th century to the current day. Fes has perfectly preserved its unique style of life and cultural features. The tour will include a visit to the Oldest University in the World, Al Qarwayyin University, the Bou Inania Medrasa, the Jewish Quarter or Melleh and the Synagogue, the tanneries and the leather market, the Golden Gates of the Royal Palace and much more.

Day6:     Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erg Chebbi

Today, we will drive further south to the gateway towards the Great Sahara where Erg Chebbi sand dunes are located. We will first stop at the Moroccan Switzerland version, Ifrane; the UNESCO preserved cedar forest that host a colony of Barbay Apes. We will drive through the Ziz Gorge Valley, Erfoud before getting to the sand dunefield of Erg Chebbi spread like an ocean of soft and golden sand. Dinner and breakfast will be served at the Auberge/Hotel located at the feet of the sand dunes.

Day7:           Exploring the area and camel trek

We will spend the day exploring the desert area and in the late afternoon you will have a camel trekking activity to overnight in the camp that is located in the heart of the sand dunes. We will first get an insight into the traditional system of irrigation of aqueducts or Khettaras that are still in function to this day. We will drive through the village of Merzouga, which is one of the biggest villages in the area, then to Khamlia Village that is resided by Black Africans from Sub-Saharan Countries brought as slaves and are known for their popular and spiritual Gnawa music. We will also include a drive through the lush palm oasis of Tafilalet and in the late afternoon, we will get back to the Auberge to saddle your camel up for a nice journey to the camp. Dinner and breakfast will be served followed by a time of entertainment.

Day8:           Erg Chebbi – Tinejdad – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Early wake to attend the majestic panoramic view of sunrise over sand dunes. Get to the Auberge back by camel for a nice shower before embarking for a nice drive to the Canyons or Gorges of Todra that have attracted mountain climbers from all over the world with its lush valley of Todra and Kasbahs. In the late afternoon, we will resume our journey to our final destination for the day, Dades Valley. Dinner and Breakfast will be served at XALUCA Dades or similar.

Day9:        Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will drive to Marrakech crossing the valley of Roses known for its products made of Roses and Ouarzazate that is known as the Hollywood of Africa because of the Atls Film Studios, then to the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah that was used as a backdrop for shooting several Hollywood movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, The Jewel of the Nile, Prince of Persia and many others. We will continue through the High Atlas Mountains crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m) before getting to Marrakech in the evening.

Day10:      Full day walking tour of the Marrakech Medina

In the morning, you will spend the day exploring the Marrakech Medina through the full day walking tour of Marrakech Medina with a local expert private tour guide. Walk from La Kotoubia Mosque to Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, through the narrow alleywas of the Medina and Souks to the Ben Youssef Medersa, the Museum of Marrakech. After lunch, we will visit the Majorelle Gardens with its botanical plans and colourful buildings.

Day11:       Transfer to Casablanca Mohamed V Airport

After breakfast, we will drive to Casablanca Airport.

The 11 Days Real Morocco Tour includes the following:
